  • Fleece Flower Root Soup
  • External Treatment

In traditional Chinese medicine, hair is said to be an extension of the blood, as well as the manifestations of the kidneys. The condition of the hair reflects therefore blood and kidney quality. In addition, hair is influenced by the health of the liver, lungs and spleen-pancreas. Hair loss and prematurely gray hair can be treated by improving blood quality and strengthening the kidneys, liver, lungs and spleen-pancreas.

Statistics have shown that male-pattern baldness is more common among the Europeans, white Americans and Australians. It happens that these races prefer high-fat and high-protein diets which tend to damage the kidneys and create acidic blood. Meat and dairy, besides being high in fat and protein, are also generally considered 'sweet' in Chinese medicine. Considering the additional sweets, desserts, and sugar-laced foods and drinks in which Americans and Europeans indulge, we can see that the sweet flavor dominates their typical diet. The "Inner Classic" cautions from this ancient text: 'Too much sweets damage the blood (and therefore the hair).'

Worry, anxiety and excessive thinking greatly injure the spleen-pancreas and its blood-producing, nutrient-assimilating functions. It is commonly known in China that worry causes gray hair. Much the same is said in the Western saying about hair--'Grass doesn't grow well on a busy street.'

As said above, the condition of the hair reflects blood and kidney quality. Premature hair loss therefore is considered by the Chinese as a sign of the deficiency of the liver and the kidneys. Other symptoms include dizziness, tinnitus (ringing ear), dry skin and wrinkles, impotence, lassitude in loins and knees.

    Fleece Flower Root Soup

The therapeutic principle for this kind of baldness is to nourish the liver, kidneys, blood and to dispel pathogenic wind.

    Fleece flower root 160 g
peeled dahurian angelica root 60 g
    Chinese angelica root 60 g
    Chuanxiong 60 g
    stir-baked liquorice 60 g

All the above herbs are to be decocted in water for oral administration, or grind into powder and then boiled for oral consumption.

Besides having the effect of preventing premature hair loss, taking this formula for long period could reverse graying of hair, improve skin texture and have anti-ageing effects.

    External Treatment

Cut fresh ginger into slices, or use onion juice, and use them to rub the affected part, twice a day, in the morning and before you go to bed. Rub it until you feel heat on the scalp.

Continue the process for 6 months, at the same time when you are drinking the Fleece Flower Root Soup. The two processes must be applied together to prevent or slow down premature hair loss.
